I got Joan's DVD set - the demonstrations are great, nice closeup views of the strokes and what she's doing with her brush; she goes into detail about the consistency of the paint as well, which is really important! She is also verbally explaining what she's doing as she works. I sit down with my paints and pop the DVD in and work along with her. I can pause, rewind and watch again if I'm not clear on what she just did there (I'm also left-handed, so I have to kind of stop and think for a second before I pull a stroke the wrong way!) I highly recommend the DVDs to make the written instructions really make sense. (I'm one of those people who learn best by watching - I have to see someone actually DOING it).
